The Country Girl in the Big city

Five years ago when I married the love of my life I thought that our back grounds wouldn't effect us. Boy was I wrong. I am a country girl, I mean I can not only cook dinner but I can kill it and clean it too, kind of country girl. I grow up in a town of about 2500 and went to a high school with 300 total students. My husband grow up in the inter-city and went to a school that had just about as many students as there were people in my home town. He didn't wont to live in the country,so seeing that my parent still had the farm where I could go to get my fix of the country life, I moved to the city. Now we have no children yet so it has never been a big deal. In tell last week when I was sitting in my living room and heard gun shots ring out a block away. As a group of teenagers retaliated against a rival gang with a drive by. Now to many people this would not be a life changing moment because they have dealt with it before. To me it made me realize that there are people in this world who are not meant to live in the city I am always worried now. I had seen the news, I know that this sort of thing is happening all over the world but damn, it had never happened a block away from me before. I wonder as a nation how bad are we going to let it get before we say that's it we are taking our world back. For our children's children please be good to each other we don't always have to like each other, but let us stop trying to kill each other. In a time when our sons and daughters and our husband and our wives are fighting a war so far away . Lets try to keep the peace on our home land. For me with my first child on the way my husband and I have decided we are moving to the country where at least there is still a little peace not to mention a few stars.
